About Us

A small shop,
one man,
start to
finish.

Bear Hollow is a one-man shop. Tony Davis designs every piece, sits in on every fitting, and stands behind everything that leaves the shop — there is no production line standing between the man who ordered a kilt and the man who cut it.

It started with a simple question: whether a kilt could still be made properly, cut on the older lines, from real cloth, fit to the man wearing it rather than a size chart. The commissions that followed have not stopped since.

The relationships built along the way — with the British mills who weave the cloth, and the American tailors he trusts to construct it — are what make that possible today.

Highlanders wore the kilt at the height of the era most now picture as universal.

II

Workwear first

The small kilt was cut down for hard industrial labor, long before it stood for anything ceremonial.

The Fitting Call

Nobody has ever
been measured well
by a size chart.

Every commission starts with a video call. It costs nothing, it commits you to nothing, and it is the reason these kilts fit the first time rather than the second.

  1. 01

    We talk

Twenty minutes on a video call. What it is for, how you will wear it, what you already own that it has to sit with.

  2. 02

    We measure together

You are walked through every measurement on camera. Nothing is guessed and nothing is left to a chart.

  3. 03

    The cloth is chosen

Sett, weight and yardage settled between us. Only then is payment taken in full and the cloth ordered.

  4. 04

    It is made and sent

Twelve to fourteen weeks. Box pleated to the sett, hand-finished, and shipped with the paw-mark label sewn in.
